A: Love and treats! Dogs love to be loved. When we first opened our doors, any time our shop dogs would head for the door we called them by name, then gave them lots of reward ‘loves’ with petting, treats and “good dog” encouragement. (The meatier the treats and the compliments, the better!) Now they voluntarily stay in the store, as they have figured out that’s where the love, attention and treats are.
